The MGA Charter calls us to transform humanity into a fraternal community of God's children, embodying the vision of Vasudeva Kudumbakam (the universal family of God). On September 23, 2024, the associates from Montfort Chabua, North-East India Province, embraced this mission by visiting ‘The House of the Destitutes in Tinsukia.
A dedicated team of 31 compassionate individuals, including five staff members and 26 students, united in their commitment to stand with those marginalised by society, fulfilling the call to be present with the poor.
A generous contribution of rations and assorted snacks from the staff and the students of classes II to XII were given to the residents, significantly alleviating the daily struggles of the home’s inhabitants.
This visit transcended mere charity; it became a transformative experience for the students. One student shared, “This visit opened my eyes to the struggles others face. I realised how blessed I am and the importance of sharing what I have.” Another reflected, “Life can be brutal for so many!”
As they interacted with the inmates, the students witnessed the harsh realities of abandonment due to neglect, illness, disabilities, and psychological trauma. This exposure nurtured empathy, kindness, and a deeper sense of social responsibility.

Sincere gratitude goes to Mr Francis, Mr Jacob, Mr Christopher, Ms Bharati, and Mr Kanak for guiding and assisting the students during this meaningful journey.
