Provincial Chapter of Brazzaville, July 6-8, 2017
Twenty-one (21) Capitulants gathered, on Wednesday night, at the Guest House of Kinsoundi (Congo Brazzaville) where the 7th Provincial Chapter was to be held. They came from six communities (Provincial House, Moungali, Makelekele, Pointe-Noire, Bertoua and Bangui). They represented five nationalities: Congo-Brazzaville; Democratic Republic of Congo (RDC); Republic of Central Africa (RCA); Cameroon and Haiti). Bro. Jean Paul Mbengue, Assistant General in charge of the African Francophone Sector, was present on behalf of the Central Administration. Bro. Léandre Ngoubi N. was the substitute of Bro. Maixent R. Kouba who was having a formation programme in France.
On Thursday, July 6, after the Morning Prayer, at 6.30 am, and the Eucharistic Celebration in the Chapel of the Centre, the Brothers gathered in the Chapter Hall, at 8.30 am, for the official opening of the Meeting.
Bro. Ambroise Ndougou, Provincial Superior and Chairman of the Chapter, recalled the purpose of the meeting and proceeded with the opening of the Chapter. Then Bro. Jean-Paul M., paraphrased Pope Francis in his Exhortation to the Assumptionists, Brothers and Fathers, and invited the Capitulants to “cultivate the mystique of the encounter”.
The Chapter had two main objectives:
- To prepare the Working Document for the 32nd General Chapter;
- To elect of the Representative of the Province to the General Chapter.
After three days of hard work, the Chapter elected Bro. Christophe J. Mbani as the General Capitulant and prepared a three-page document of concrete and bold proposals with three main focuses: Sacred Fire, Fraternal Life and the Gabrielite-Montfortian mission.
It is a great joy for us to share with you the happenings of our Provincial Chapter in order to foster a greater communion in prayer and to respond as well as possible to the calls of the Holy Spirit!
