Feast of Annunciation

Feast of Annunciation

The transfer of the Feast of the Annunciation from March 25 to April 4, because of coincidence with Good Friday, did not prevent the Montfortian Family, in Rome, from celebrating its Patronal Feast with joy and fervour in the context of Easter.

The first guests arrived before 10h30. They took advantage of the beautiful spring sunshine and the wonderful setting of the park at its best in forms and colours, at this time of the year, to greet each other and share the latest news in the pleasant morning light. The Croatian or Portuguese Montfort Fathers and Brothers, in black cassocks, with large rosaries, made the link with the Tercentenary, which was meaningful in this year of remembrance of the sources.

The Eucharist, very well prepared, as usual, by Bro. Bernard Guesdon, assisted by Bro. André Roberge, was presided over by Fr. Yoseph Dwi, Assistant General, surrounded by Fr. Santino Brembilla, Superior General, Enrique Gonzales, Vicar, and ten other concelebrants.

The participants greeted with a song, the entrance of the procession, led by the three Superiors General, carrying a copy of the Treatise of the True Devotion, the Cross of Gabriel Deshayes and the Statue of Our Lady of the Way, which were deposited at the foot of the altar.

Bro. Georges Le Vern, the Local Superior, welcomed the participants among which the workers of the Generalate had taken place.

In his homily, Fr. Enrique emphasized the links between the mysteries of the Annunciation and the Resurrection. He also showed the deep meaning of the Incarnation for the Montfortian Family by referring to the thoughts of Father de Montfort.

The participants lived the Eucharist in a joyous and contemplative atmosphere, a genuine thanksgiving for the wonders that the Lord performs for his people, for and with the Montfortian Family, in particular.

After the celebration, the sharing of refreshments gave the opportunity to Sr. Louise, the Superior General, and Fr. Santino to present the Members of their Congregations and to announce that the Daughters of Wisdom had a new General Councillor, Sr Elisabeth, from Peru, and a new Secretary General, Sr. Ginette, from Haiti. Fr. Santino announced the imminent arrival of a new Secretary General, Fr. Kata Balaswamy, from the Vice-Province of India. Bro. Yvan Passebon, as the Master of Ceremony, presented the Brothers of the Generalate, especially the newcomers: Bros Michael Mathew, Sebastian and Sébastien Ndabunganiye.

After the group photo, on the steps, adorned with wisteria flowers, it was time to move to the dining-hall, artistically decorated by the expert hands of our two Sisters and Mrs Maddalena, under the supervision of Bro. Marcel Bregeon. Most of the forty guests appreciated the menu, simple but tasty. The joy of the meeting was reflected in various multilingual songs with the accompaniment of the guitar of the young Croatian Fathers. The vote of thanks was delivered, in turn, by the three Superiors General.

Then, everyone could go back to his own occupations, after singing a vibrant thanksgiving for this wonderful family celebration, promising to meet again, as soon as possible, for the next celebration, which was immediately granted, at least to Members of the three General Administrations, who met again, the next day, for a day’s work, at the Daughters’ of Wisdom Generalate.

Secretary General
