Pilgrimage on the footsteps of St. Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort
Pilgrimage on the footsteps of St. Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort from 17th April to 1st May, 2016, France
It was a blessed and God-given opportunity for the 23 Indian Brothers with the guidance and assistance of three French Brothers, an assistant general, Bro. K.M. Joseph and with two Indian Brothers of the International Community who made their pilgrimage on the footsteps of their Founder in the places that are associated to Montfort’s spirituality and to the places of his missions during the period of two weeks.
The pilgrim Brothers visited all the significant places of the Founder with greater and realistic expectation, unshakable faith, filial devotion, incessant prayer and with the appropriate explanations given by the expert Brothers. Many of the pilgrim Brothers felt that they were walking, talking and living with beloved father Montfort as they went along on the footsteps of the founder beginning from his birth place to the place of his new birth. They could have a flash back of living during the most troublesome period of 17th and 18th Centuries recalling the pleasant and unpleasant memories of the great and saintly man as they moved from place to place literally walking on the footsteps of Saint Louis Marie de Montfort. Of course, they noticed a huge development everywhere in the country at all levels.
There was also a great event of Montfortian pilgrimage which was organized at Lourdes in which there were almost 6000 Montfortian pilgrims participated together to honour Mary, the mother of God and St. Louis Marie de Montfort. The pilgrim Brothers from India took an active part in the Montfortian pilgrimage organized by the committed and faithful Montfortians at Lourdes. It was a blessed opportunity for all of them to share and pray with the Montfortians of France and other countries and offer their personal prayers, pieties and devotions to Mary like their founder.
They also had the opportunity to celebrate with the people and the Brothers of various countries who were assembled at St. Laurent Sur Sèvre, where the tomb of St. Louis Marie de Montfort is located, for the grand and memorable celebrations of the Tercentenary of the death of St. Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort. They had an input and an interactive session delivered by the former director of Saint Gab namely Denis Baguenard on the history of Montfortian and Gabrielite education in France for the past 300 years.
As a whole all the Pilgrim Brothers from India had a comfortable and spiritual journey on the footsteps of Montfort in France. A big thanks to each and every one for the small and bigger role played in the organization of the Pilgrimage on the footsteps of Montfort.
