Brother Claude Béliveau, SG – With Gratitude In Our Hearts

Brother Claude Béliveau, SG – With Gratitude In Our Hearts

On Wednesday, 14 March 2018, there was a meaningful celebration at the Provincial House. We celebrated Brother Claude Béliveau’s 22 years of work as one of the Staff in the Provincial Bursar’s Office. Were present for that event, the Provincial Superior and his Councillors, the members of the Community of the Provincial House, the members of the Community of Saint-Nicolas, where Bro. Claude lives, and all the members of the Lay Staff working in the Provincial House. The celebration began with an aperitif. The Provincial Superior then expressed our gratitude to Claude, not only for his commitment in the Bursar’s Office, but also for his many other commitments, both inside and outside the Congregation. It was a most appropriate occasion to highlight all those years of service which have required so much availability, love and generosity. A memento and two gift-certificates were given to Claude. I should also add that, on that particular occasion, Claude’s sister sent beautiful flowers to her brother.

After the aperitif, lunch was served in the dining room. While eating, the participants shared lots of happy memories. Towards the end of the meal, the Provincial Superior invited Claude to address the gathering. Claude then described the evolution of his work in the Provincial Bursar’s Office, particularly concerning the payroll service he was in charge of for all the employees of our houses. He also drew a picture of his commitments in various fields of activity. He finally thanked the organizers of the celebration and all those who came to express their gratitude.

The Provincial Superior then said: On this 14thof March 2018, we have the joy of being gathered here to express our gratitude to Bro. Claude Béliveau for the services he has rendered to the Provincial Bursar’s Office since 1996, that is for a total of 22 years. What a wonderful occasion to celebrate a lifetime of multiple commitments at the service of our Congregation’s life and mission.

Let us take a look at Bro. Claude’s impressive journey. It sure deserves to be briefly highlighted. Bro. Claude was a Teacher, a Student in accounting, an Accountant at the Litho Saint-Gabriel (St. Gabriel’s Printing Center), an Assistant-Director in the Service des Écoles (St. Gabriel’s Academic Bookstore), Local Bursar in the Rancourt Community, and Superior of the Communauté Saint-Gabriel (a Community for aged and sick Brothers). But this is not all! Claude also had various commitments outside the Congregation.

To the above impressive list, I wish to add that Claude was an Organist and a Liturgy Animator in parishes, that he was In-charge of La Maison du Rosaire (a Marian Resource Center), In-charge of a March for Forgiveness (a Good Friday’s Way of the Cross going from one side of the Island of Montreal to the other), In-charge of Le Train Marial (a Marian Pilgrimage Tour), and Animator and Director in some activities organized by the Little Brothers of the Poor, in Oka… And the list could go on.

After such an enumeration, on behalf of the Brothers of the Province, of the Provincial Councillors, of the members of the Lay Staff here present, and of all the people with whom Claude has collaborated, I wish to say…

  • Thank you, Claude, for who you are: a person consecrated to the Lord in religious life, whose chosen path is that of the Gospel, lived in love, compassion and service;
  • Thank you for the competency, professionalism and dedication that you showed throughout these 22 years of service as one of the Staff in the Provincial Bursar’s Office;
  • Thank you for your commitment to our Congregation, for your generosity and for your constancy at the service of the mission.

On this feast of gratitude, we wish you many more happy days lived in peace and joy. Be proud of all that you have done in the Provincial Bursar’s Office and in so many other commitments that you took up throughout the years of your active life.

Heartfelt thanks, Claude!

– Yves Ladouceur, f.s.g., Provincial Superior
