Encounter with the Pope Francis, on 6 October 2017

This is a somewhat exceptional event to be able to participate in the mass of the Pope the morning at 7: 00 in the Church of Santa Marta near the place where he resides. I am pleased to share with you this encounter. The last year, Brother K.M. Joseph, Assistant General, and I celebrated 50 years of our first vows in the Congregation of the Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel, and we wrote a letter of request to participate in a morning Mass celebrated by Pope Francis. Montfortian Spirituality Retreats

Singapore: Montfort Centre organized recently two modules of Montfortian Spirituality Retreats, Love of the Eternal Wisdom and Christian Discipleship. The retreat for the Love of Eternal Wisdom was conducted from 14th to 16th July. This was a popular retreat and we had a full house attendance. The Christian Discipleship, which was based on the Prayer for Missionaries, was held from 17th to 19th July. This fell during the weekdays and attendance was rather low. A New Agricultural training centre for the BARA- community of Madagascar!

The population of Madagascar is made of eighteen ethnic groups. ‘BARA’ is an ethnic group who lives in the Region of Ihorombe in the south of the country.  Basically, these are ‘ZEBU’ (local breed of cows and bulls) raisers and some also involve in seasonal agriculture. This region has the world famous ISALO Mountains and the RANOHIRA and the water plays music falling from the mountains. Montfort Schools have become a brand in India. Spread across the country, thanks to our visionary pioneers and leaders of yester years, we have made education a universal and inclusive mission with a neutral but spiritual space for children to grow up as global citizens of the world. The National Commission on Education, representing the 7 Provinces of Brothers, met in New Delhi for a two-days strategic planning for action. Provincial Chapter of Brazzaville, July 6-8, 2017

Twenty-one (21) Capitulants gathered, on Wednesday night, at the Guest House of Kinsoundi (Congo Brazzaville) where the 7th Provincial Chapter was to be held. They came from six communities (Provincial House, Moungali, Makelekele, Pointe-Noire, Bertoua and Bangui). They represented five nationalities: Congo-Brazzaville; Democratic Republic of Congo (RDC); Republic of Central Africa (RCA); Cameroon and Haiti). Bro. First Professions at the Novitiate of Thiès (Senegal)

The Novitiate, at Thiès, forms candidates from the three French Speaking African Provinces: Brazzaville, Kinshasa and Senegal. At the beginning of this year, there were seventeen Novices: Fifteen 1st year and two 2nd year. The two Novices: Bro. On 25, 26 and 27 May, in the city of Barcelona, the Brothers of St. Gabriel held the second session of their 27th Provincial Chapter. In presence, of our special guest, Bro. Saint-Gabriel Solidarité celebrated its 20th Anniversary on June 2017, in La Hillière (Thouaré-sur-Loire). The feast was marked by the Eucharist, a buffet lunch and an overview of all the events that have spanned its 20 years of existence.
