Education
Religious Life is integral to the life of the Church and is at the heart of the Church’s mission in the world (cf. VC 3). The sense of mission is at the heart of every form of consecrated life (cf. VC 25). The Religious are invited to participate in the triple common mission of the Church through their life and apostolic activities, in accordance with the charism of each Religious Congregation: Evangelization, Witnessing and Human Promotion.
Education is the primary apostolate of the Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel. Our Rule of Life and Constitutions gives us the impetus to commit ourselves to the cause of education and sets the priorities for our ministry among the children and the youth, in consonance with the spirit and charism of our Founder St. Louis Marie de Montfort. It also gives certain directions and spells out the main thrusts of our education ministry, namely:
- Preferential option for the poor, abandoned, maladjusted and handicapped
- Justice dimension of the Educational Apostolate
- Need for collaboration with like-minded Agencies
- Emphasis on catechetical formation of the Catholics.
The ‘Montfortian Education Charter’ is the inspirational culmination of our Rule of Life and Constitutions, integrating Montfort’s vision and spirituality, the inspiration from Gabriel Deshayes, the lived out experience of the Brothers during the past three centuries, the teachings of the Church on education and the contextual world educational scenario.
